Seven Layer Mexican Dip

Seven Layer Mexican Dip

Never one to pass up a chance to celebrate a French military defeat, I made a Seven Layer Mexican Dip to share on Cinco de Mayo.

The recipe I used is the one linked above from Cooks.com. Nothing fancy, but I made the same dip last year and it was quite a hit. Plus, you can make this one the night before and it’s better the next day.

What are you using to photo your food? Your pics always come out like Martha Stewart cover photos, while mine look gray and blurry.

That one was shot with my Canon EOS Digital Rebel with the stock 18-55mm lens and (if I recall) no tripod. According to the EXIF data, it was shot with 1/10 sec. shutter, F/3.5, no flash, and at a focal length of 22 mm (ISO 100).

In general, I’ve found that I get good results switching to Program AE mode (“P” mode for Canon products) under natural light with a tripod and no flash. Zooming in a little bit helps to blur the background.

Food is notoriously hard to shoot. :)

This is just like it is in the store, only fresher. It was perfect.
